Tarkine Wilderness Adventure Tours

Walk through Tarkine wildernessThis is a full day 4WD adventure tour in Tasmania that explores the remoteness of the "Edge of The World" region and the Tarkine Wilderness deep in the North West corner of Tasmania. Find yourself in awe at the spectacular views of our rugged coastline, cool climate rainforest and abundant wildlife with your experienced guide.

Tour operates on demand from September to June each year, except Christmas Day, departing at 9.00am and returning at 5.00pm. Tour bookings are subject to tour guide availability.

Arrangements can be made to visit Forest Adventures at Dismal Swamp however the guide MUST be informed of request prior to tour departure.

INCLUDES: morning tea, gourmet lunch and beverages.
Minimum of 2 passengers required for tour to operate.

Low Cost Tarkine Wilderness Tour

A family enjoys the views of Arthurs River from Sumac Lookout Full day tour. All Tour details as above.
INCLUDES: boxed snack lunch only.

Please note:-
This tour has a minimum booking requirement of 4 passengers in order for the tour to operate. The tour is subject to cancellation if the minimum booking requirement of passengers is not met. If guests do not have a group of 4 persons, it is recommended to book the Premium Tour option (above)with a minimum requirement of 2 passengers.

Adventure Tour Itinerary

The tours cater for all guests and the general outline of the Full Day Adventure Tour is as follows:

  • Travel via 4WD to Green Point Marrawah
  • Visit West Point right on the far North-West coast giving guests an overview of the Aboriginal culture of the area.
  • Following this it is onto Arthur River where guests stop at the "Edge of the World" and Arthur River Beach.
  • The tour then stops at Sundown Point to stretch the legs and look at Petroglyphs left by the Indigenous people of Tasmania.
  • The tour then journeys to Couta Rocks.
  • The afternoon is when guests are taken inland on the South Arthur Forest Drive to see the beautiful Sumac Lookout and other destinations listed below.
  • Guests stop at the Julius River Reserve for a refreshing rainforest walk and if participants wish to they can also visit Lake Chisholm Forest Reserve where stunning views of the sinkhole are taken in.
  • The journey back to Smithton sees the tour stop at Kanunnah Bridge which crosses the Arthur River and is where you say goodbye to the beautiful wilderness.
  • On the return journey to Tall Timbers guests can see Roger River at Edith Creek plus prime farmland home to: Cape Grim beef, the strong dairy industry that the area boasts and the Edith Creek Murray Goulburn UHT Plant.

Please note: all tours cater for the guests on the day and will alter depending on what guests wish to see in this beautiful North West part of the state. The highly knowledgeable and experienced guide can alter the tours for guests who wish to spend a large amount of time in the heart of the wilderness or can adapt to guests who would like more of a coastal experience in the magical part of Tasmania.
